Description:
This position will support the Enhanced Water Quality Monitoring and
Assessment Program at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science,
Gloucester
Point, Virginia. Essential functions include: data processing and GIS
analysis of high frequency temporal and spatial water quality data using

ESRI-based software, assistance with the testing and implementation of
GIS
analysis in coordination with state and federal agencies to ensure
uniform
method application, and production of maps and products for distribution
on
a web site, for evaluation of environmental management criteria, and to
support scientific papers and reports.

Qualifications:
Degree in geography or related field with a specialization in GIS or
equivalent work experience. Valid drivers license required. Knowledge
and
experience with ERSI ArcMap 9.x , familiarity with Microsoft Access and
Excel, experience with Geostatistcal Analyst or kriging techniques,
experience with SQL Server and web design are not required but are
desirable. Application of GIS techniques to natural resources data and
ability to fully document procedures in metadata.

Salary
$30,146 - $40,000
