The Virginia Geographic Information Network (VGIN) is developing a cost/benefit analysis for collecting statewide or regional lidar data in Virginia. To assist us, we have published a new lidar webpage at http://www.isp.virginia.gov/lidar.shtml. The page includes some background information on lidar, minutes and presentations from previous meetings, a link to a Virginia lidar blog, and information about lidar programs in neighboring states.

The site also contains a link to a short survey that is intended to document the needs for lidar data in Virginia and what elevation data currently exists across the Commonwealth. The survey can be accessed directly at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=zLKTHZP_2bLna13KniPzmh7A_3d_3d and is open to anyone who wants to respond.

Please visit the new webpage and forward this message to anyone that may be interested. Please also forward your comments and suggestions about the site to Sam Hall at samuel.hall@vita.virginia.gov.

Sam Hall
