Subject: FW: 9-1-1 address information

Dorothy,

I have posed the following to our County Attorney and County
Administrator and they have requested me to research how other
jurisdictions are handling this. Can you distribute this on the
listserve?

Thanks,

Tim

As we have changed most of the addresses in the county with the
implementation of Enhanced 9-1-1 the Emergency Communicaitons Center and
the administrative offices are receiving requests for directions to the
residences. We provide this for emergency response agencies and that is
what we are here for. However we are getting requests from many others
such as delivery companies (fedex, ups, dhl etc...) to locate the new
addresses. Then we receive requests from banks and various lending
institutions. This is then escalating to collection agencies,
repossession companies etc... over 95% of these contacts with us are
via telephone. Thus the validity of the caller cannot be verified.

Does any PSAPS have specific policies addressing the issues of providing
address information?

Thanks,

Tim Addington
