As you may remember, we automatically distribute 60% of the wireless funding to the primary wireless PSAPs in Virginia based on a formula. The formula uses the call load and costs from the prior fiscal year to calculate the portion of the funds that each PSAP will receive. The Code of Virginia requires us to recalculate this percentage each October to take into account high growth areas. To be clear, the overall amount of money to be distributed does not change. Only the percentage of that funding that each locality receives is impacted. Some localities will get a slightly higher percentage and some will get a slightly lower one. Since the overall fund is still growing, the amount you receive may increase even though your percentage decreases. We have distributed FY 2008 funding for July through September, but unfortunately, to comply with the Code, we cannot distribute October through December until we are able to perform the recalculation of the distribution percentage. We can not perform this recalculation until ALL localities report their FY 2007 true-up information. There are still several localities that have not done so. To expedite reporting, the regional coordinators have been in contact with these localities. We are hopeful to get the last of the true-up submissions this week, but will begin contacting the County Administrators of delinquent localities next week to try to motivate the process forward. We can not simply keep them at last year's percentage since their percentage may have decreased. We are sorry for the delay in processing your payments, but our hands are tied until we get all of the data for FY 2007. Thank you for your patience and please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Dorothy A.
