The Hanover County Virginia Emergency Communications Department (PSAP/911 Center) is individual department within the County Government structure. The department is managed and supervised by a civilian director who reports to the Assistant County Administrator. The County is attempting to identify other Emergency Communications Departments through the State and Country that have similar PSAP or 911 center operations with this type of structure or that have civilian directors that report to boards of one type or another. This doesn't include those PSAPs or 911 centers where the manager or director reports directly to a Sheriff, Police Chief, Fire Chief or any other type of individual department head.
