Some of you may have noticed that since January, Dorothy Spears-Dean has
been taking on many of the roles I used to perform as the Public Safety
Communications (PSC) Coordinator for the Commonwealth. You may have
also seen that her name was actually listed as the PSC Coordinator on
the Board's letterhead and on the VITA organizational chart. Well,
though it took a little longer to get the paperwork complete than we
would have liked, this past Sunday, Dorothy Spears-Dean was officially
named the PSC Coordinator for VITA.

Since the creation of the Integrated Services Program (ISP) just over a
year ago, which brought together VGIN, radio engineering and E-911 under
one program, I had been trying to manage the ISP while still serving as
the PSC Coordinator. There simply were not enough hours in the day to
continue this, which prompted the need for this change. While I am not
going anywhere, I encourage you to contact Dorothy or any of the
regional PSC coordinators if you need anything related to the PSC
Division. Of course, I would be happy to help you, too, if you need me.

I want to thank everyone for the support you have shown me over the last
seven years that I served as the PSC Coordinator and ask that you
continue that support of Dorothy. We can all look back with pride at
what the Commonwealth has been able to achieve over the past several
years. Though it has been a busy time, with issues like Next Generation
E-911 on the horizon, things will definitely not be slowing down anytime
soon. With our combined resources and commitment, we will continue to
improve public safety communications and the safety of our citizens
throughout the Commonwealth.

Please join me in congratulating Dorothy in her new position and please
let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Have a wonderful day...
