The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) and the Virginia
Wireless E-911 Services Board are pleased to announce the availability
of the FY 2007 SHSP Grant opportunity for Citizen's Alerting Systems.

Localities are encouraged to compete for $1 million dollars in 2007
Homeland Security Grant funding that is currently available to support
the establishment of these alerting systems as a communications resource
statewide. The grant application and guidelines are provided to assist
you with your submission and can be found at

All submissions must be submitted through the locality CAO's office and
only one submission per local government will be accepted. Multiple
submissions from any locality may result in all submissions from that
locality being deemed ineligible. Grant proposals must be received by
close of business on June 20, 2008 for consideration. The Virginia
Wireless E-911 Services Board's Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP)
Grant Committee will evaluate applications and finalize their
recommendations for awarding funds by the end of July.

Additional technical questions may be directed to the VDEM Grants
Management Office at 804-897-6500.
