The Southwest Virginia EMS Council is announcing the First Annual EMS & Fire Symposium. Please see the information below from the Greg Woods, Executive Director. My Fellow EMS Provider: On behalf of the Southwest Virginia EMS Council, I am proud to invite you to attend our First Annual EMS and Fire Symposium being held June 6-8, 2008, at the Holiday Inn at Exit 7 in Bristol, VA. This is the first event of this type offered in our region, and we hope that you will join us. The program will offer a variety of EMS courses. Each course will be 1.5 hours of continuing education credit. EMS providers will have the opportunity to obtain a total of twelve hours of continuing education credit through a variety of EMS course offerings. A schedule of topics is attached to this form. The event will also feature vendor booths to allow you to view new makes and models of vehicles and other equipment. In addition, there are social gatherings planned to allow you to get to know EMS providers from throughout our region. Also, our annual EMS Awards Banquet will be held on June 7, 2008, and you have the option of attending this ceremony as well. If you would like to attend the Awards Banquet please contact Kathy White at the council office to purchase your ticket. Ticket cost for this dinner will be $25.00 per person, and payment must be received by May 23, 2008. Best of all, thanks to a donation by Wellmont Health System, we are able to offer this training event free of charge for EMS providers. Space is limited, however, so we encourage you to register soon to reserve your spot. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Holiday Inn at a discounted rate. When calling to make reservations, request a room under the Southwest Virginia EMS Council block of rooms to take advantage of this discount. Deadline to take advantage of this discount is May 7, 2008. Please contact the Holiday Inn at (276) 466-4100 to make your reservations. Availability is limited.
